Hello to all!

After about 20 years from being away from the hobby, at a young 71 years of age, I have decided to get back into it. I see that an awful lot has changed and if I am correct in my findings, it's seem that SSB is now the place to be.

I was born, raised and lived in a suburb of Chicago (Elmwood Park, IL.) for 59 years. When I retired, after working 33 years for GEICO Insurance, I relocated in 2001, to Henderson, Nevada.

I ordered some equipment about a week ago and a few items are starting to arrive. I ordered a new Galaxy 979, an Antron an A 99 CB Base Station Antenna, some cable and other things and a Jetstream 25 AMP Compact 12 V DC Adjustable power supply JTPS31MB.

I hope to be up and running in another week.

SSB is gay.

Not sure what you mean by that.

I doubt that I will ever go 10 meter, I'm too old and it's expensive. Are you saying that the 40 channel AM is better than SSB?

I was just messing around, but I personally prefer am over ssb. Am tends to suit my broadcast style, but more power to ya if you prefer ssb. :D

SSB is a nice way to make great contacts without all the screaming and if you decide to go 10 meter it's not much difference in cost and it is kinda cool to make contacts around the world on less than 100w. It's not for everyone..
